Baraka Blues Art Print | Margi Lake

£45

Baraka Blues | Margi Lake

This piece is a tenfold Timurid rosette pattern from the ancient ‘Topkapi Scroll’ now housed in the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. It is one of a family of so-called ‘self-similar’ Persian ‘girih’ patterns that can be seen throughout Greater Iran and Central Asia. Luminosity, translucence and reflected light have played an important role in Islamic art since time immemorial. This piece is executed in watercolours on Indian khadi paper which gives it a particularly rich and grainy texture.
