Week 2: Look Up
When you walk down the street how many people do you see around you heads down, engrossed in their smartphone, completely oblivious to the world around them? Maybe that person is you? How often do we stop and truly take in the world above us?
Every time you look up, a new story is revealed. A constellation that inspires an endless imagination, a cloud that morphs into a memory, a canopy of trees that dapples the light just enough to stop you squinting. Or maybe you live in a city surrounded by glass and concrete or you’re spending a week indoors and your ceiling provides a blank canvas.
For this week’s prompt we’re asking you to look up. What do you see?
Look up at the sky, the architecture, the tree branches reaching toward the heavens. Notice the shifting colours of dawn and dusk, the dance of clouds, the way light filters through windows.
Sometimes we need to shift our perspective and find inspiration in unexpected places.
What do you see when you change your point of view? Perhaps it’s a symbol of hope, a reminder of something greater as you close your eyes and think of a higher power. Or simply take in the small details, the unnoticed beauty of everyday life.
For this challenge, let your creativity take flight. Sketch the skyline, write a poem about the stars, capture the essence of movement in dance, or photograph the patterns above you. There’s a whole world waiting, all you have to do is glance upwards.
